Azolla:
Azolla is in extraordinary aquatic plant. This is a store house for proteins, essential aminoacids, vitamins A, B12, Beta carotene, and minerals like calcium, phosphorus, iron, copper, magnesium, etc. On dry weight basis, Azolla contains 25 -35% protein, 10 -15 % minerals and 7 – 10% aminoacids, bioactive agents and biopolymers. Azolla floats on water and is capable of absorbing nitrogen from the atmosphere.
Azolla as a cheap source of Nitrogen was first recognised in
China. According to some earlier reports Azolla was used as a manure for crop cultivation in the beginning of the 17th century, in China and Vietnam. People of China and Vietnam have described Azolla as mini factories of nitrogenous fertilizers. Now, Azolla is being widely used in agriculture in China, Vietnam, and Japan. In Vietnam alone Azolla is being cultivate in an area of about 40,000 ha.
Usefulness of Azolla:
- Incoroporating Azolla in the soil helps in making available nearly 40 to 50 kg N and 15000 to 20000 kg organic manure
- It controls about 70% of the weeds
- Improves the nutritional status of the soil
- Reduces expenditure on inorganic fertilizers
- Improves yields by 15 to 20 %
- In a paddy field wherein five crops of Azolla are taken there is no need to apply compost
- Azolla can be used for all types of vegetables and plantation crops
Hasiru, Hasiru siri, Hasiru shakthi contain higher quantities of Azolla and hence are sure to give better results on any crop.

Microbial fertilizers
Azospirilum :
Microbial fertilizers play an important role in improving the soil fertility and also in increasing yields of crops. They help in protecting the soil microorganisms and are responsible for rejuvenating even barren soils. They are cheap, cost effective and productivity increases in a shorter time.
Azospirilum is a microbial fertilizer that helps in fixing nitrogen near the root zone. This bacterium forms a layer of mucilage which reduces oxygen
pressure and fixes atmospheric nitrogen in the root nodules of plants. These microbes remain on the hairs and external surface of the roots. Azospirilum brevisense and A. lefepherum are the two species of Azospirilum commonly found in soils.
These soil dwelling microorganisms are capable of fixing atmospheric nitrogen either independently or by growing in plant roots.
Hasiru, Hasiru siri and Hasiru shakthi manures have alongwith the above mentioned organic materials, wood powder, agri waste materials, leaflitter, coconut waste, cow urine, cow dung slurry, pepper waste etc. Applying our products around the plants and covering with a thin layer of soil helps greatly in getting the maximum benefits.
